Jacqueline’s artwork is a constant indagation into the act of painting. The artistic surface appears as propitious territory where the artist, insatiable, explores with pigments, textures, transparencies and luminescence in order to create a total new cosmogony.

Jacqueline is obsessed with the encaustic process. This very ancient technique, whose origins are found in Fayum, Egypt, around 100-300 AD, utilizes a combination of bleached and purified beeswax and dammar resin, to which pigments are added creating a very distinctive paste. In this very specific medium, the artist paints with hot utensils; otherwise, the surface is attacked with pointed metal tools. This approach creates a singular relationship between the artist and his artwork during the creative process, where the quest inside the matter suggests a kind of archeological effort, looking always to bring out what is inside, behind, invisible but always there.

Jacqueline’s Encaustic Series participates in this transformative practice. The encaustic quality suggests the idea of spatiality: that watery feeling in which the viewer immerses himself to navigate through the ages, myths and unknown regions, to then return entirely renewed.
