Miami gallerist Carol Jazzar has curated the current exhibition at Girls’ Club, “Following the Line,” which shines a light on drawing as an artistic technique at a time when contemporary art is tending towards massive spectacles, public spaces and new technologies. The exhibition includes pieces inspired by and created with “the line” as a starting point. The works on display range from ink, colored pencil and pencil drawings to hand-drawn animation and prints.
“Following the Line” presents the works of 30 artists, among them Louise Bourgeois, Alice Neel, Tracey Emin, Joanne Greenbaum, Klara Kristalova, Lou Anne Colodny, William Córdova, Wangechi Mutu, Naomi Fisher, Beatriz Monteavaro, Jorge Pantoja, Ana Albertina Delgado, Tara Donovan, Julie Mehretu and Jen Stark. All of the works were selected from the collection of Francie Bishop Good and David Horvitz.
“Following the Line” revalues drawing, expanding the definition of this medium in contemporary artistic practices. Through September 30th, 2013.
