Nina Torres Fine Art is presenting a survey exhibition of Ginés Serrán, who was recently honored presented with the keys to the city of Miami by Mayor Tomás Regalado. Serrán is known for his large colorful and textured paintings and huge bronze mythological sculptures. The Union of the World: Monument to World Peace, perhaps his most famous work, is considered the largest bronze sculpture of classical mythology in the world and is permanently installed in Mary Brickell Village, Miami.

Ginés Serrán, who was born in Ceuta, Spain, studied anthropology and archaeology at New York University and has traveled and studied ancient cultures, mythologies, and sites ever since. His journeys have taken him all over the world, from Europe to Australia, and from Africa to China. Among his many illustrious achievements, he has served as a consultant to the United Nations on indigenous affairs, developing health projects to reduce infant and maternal mortality in Oaxaca, Mexico; studied under the master Japanese sculpture Kiyoshi Takahashi in Japan; and been recognized by the National Geographic Society as a master contemporary Spanish explorer.

Ginés Serrán first gained attention from the art world in 1980 when his work was included in an exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. Margit Rowell curated the exhibition of Spanish artists, which then traveled across the United States for two years. At the exhibition’s end Serrán’s work became part of the Guggenheim Museum collection. Since then, his work has been exhibited in hundreds of shows in over twenty different countries. The retrospective on view at Nina Torres Fine Art covers artwork made over the last thirty years. The exhibition is curated by Christopher Rodríguez and is on view from June 5 to July 3.
