“Exodus,” a group exhibition of time-based work, is currently on display at Diaspora Vibe Gallery. The exhibition brings together the work of artists from Miami and the rest of the United States, as well as England, Puerto Rico, Brazil, and Peru. Some of the featured artists are Rosamary Berríos Hernández, Chantal James, Inês Amado, Marlène Ramírez-Cancio / Fulana, Monique Diaz, Maria Lino, Aurora Molina, Tulu Bayar, Aleli Egues, Maryann De Leo, Jorge Rojas, and Beatrice Glow.

“Exodus” examines video both as a canvas for dialogue in the context of an art gallery and as a highly influential medium in international politics and popular culture. The exhibition investigates video as a tool for discussing and fostering the migrations of people and ideas in an increasingly global world. Each video is individually projected continuously and concurrently with the other pieces in the show. This setup is intended to encourage more active viewing of both time-based art and the collective space as the viewer experiences the dialogue within each individual piece and then makes connections to the other discussions within the space. “Exodus” provides a context where the artist’s intentions take precedence over traditional aesthetic and material concerns.

“Exodus” runs from June 10 to July 22, with an artist talk on Saturday, June 12, from 2 to 4 pm.
