On June 7, the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood opens a new exhibition of internationally renowned artist Nathan Sawaya, a New York-based artist who creates awesome works of art using Lego bricks. He was the first artist to ever take Lego into the art world. Born in Colville, Wash., and raised in Veneta, Ore., Sawaya’s childhood dreams were always fun. He drew cartoons, wrote stories, perfected magic tricks and naturally, played with Legos, which, after college, he rediscovered and went on to use as an artistic medium.

More than 10,000 people from 28 states and 26 countries attended Sawaya’s prior exhibition at the Art and Culture Center in 2012, and previous Sawaya exhibitions in 2010 and 2008 shattered Center attendance records. This exhibition is an innovative offering for the summer and is accompanied by different educational and interactive programs to appeal to people from all ages. Nathan Sawaya’s work is on view through August 17, 2014.
