This exhibition of Florida photographer Eric Breitenbach includes two bodies of work that revolve around his vision of nature and relationship to the environment. The series Apprehending Nature is a photographic exploration of nature in Florida, starting with discoveries in his own backyard. These compositions have allowed him to free himself from the documentary style his work is best known for, revealing the beauty of a botanical universe that we often overlook.

For its part, Nature Apprehending approaches Floridian vegetation from a very different perspective by documenting abandoned real-estate projects, unfortunate products of the recession. Breitenbach captures that tension, that struggle between the persistent advance of nature and the forgotten projects, the result of both the lack of vision and unbridled ambition of man.
